American Road Trip.
As part of this year’s special Christmas celebrations, one Madeira rock band is taking a slightly different direction!
The Whyte Blues Band will present a unique show entitled ‘American Road Trip’ which will take the audience on a musical journey across the USA.
Frontman, David Whyte will be the tour guide, giving the audience historical context to each number as they play through popular genres such as Blues, Rock & Roll, Country Westen & Tamala Motown.
“I went to high school in the US and that’s where I started playing guitar,” David told us. “
With the ‘American Road Trip’, we’re going to visit the origins of some of the most popular music of the past 50 years,” Whyte continued. The musical journey commences in New Orleans and the band will play tracks from Blues greats such as BB King and Albert Lee before turning north to Chicago where the road gets more rocky with ‘Sweet Home Chicago’, ‘Key to the Highway’, ‘Crossroads’ and ‘Route 66’.
Country Western is another popular American genre and artists like JJ Cale, The Band and Credence Clearwater are featured along with the Eagles who take a more ‘middle of the road’ position. Then there is the Texas influence from the likes of ZZ Top and Stevie Ray Vaughan.
This musical journey is presented in an entertaining hour long show with The Whyte Blues Band firmly in the driving seat. Come early and take your seat on this American extravaganza on the Concert Stage, Placa Central at Avenida Arriaga, from 9pm on 21st Dec 2023.
