UBER SUSPENDS ACTIVITY IN MADEIRA

Following the entry into force of the regional decree adapting the legal framework of TVDE to the Autonomous Region of Madeira, UBER decided to “suspend our activity in the Region as of the end of the transition period, currently announced for May 6th”, refers to a note sent to newsrooms, and registered members.

“The new regional legislation limits the number of vehicles and companies available to provide services in the Region, creating situations of lack of supply in many locations and times. This limitation will thus have a profound impact on the quality and reliability of the service, making the normal operation of the Uber application in Madeira “, he adds, adding that” after a careful evaluation, we concluded that the new regional regulation does not allow us to offer a reliable and efficient service to users and drivers “.

In conclusion, UBER stresses that “we hope in the future to be able to contribute to better mobility for those who visit or live in Madeira and who want or need access to job opportunities in the Region”.

As for the Uber Eats service, it will continue to operate normally.
