“No one will resign even if it rains with pocket knives”, says PTP

Following the mega operation by the Judiciary Police on the alleged corruption of the Government in Madeira in several public procedures, the PTP stated, today, that “even though the PSD does not have the political and moral conditions to remain in power, Miguel Albuquerque will not resign” .

The PTP, in reaction to the Judiciary Police’s mega-operation on Government corruption in Madeira, says that even though the PSD does not have the political and moral conditions to remain in power, Miguel Albuquerque will not resign.

“Not even if it rains with pocket knives, no one will resign, if Miguel Albuquerque does so, he will lose his immunity and will be immediately arrested”, reiterated Raquel Coelho, considering that this is the lifeline of the number one of the regional executive until the coercive measures and the content of the accusation.

  3. It’s unbelievable how politicians cling to power. Now he’s completely fed up and terrified of the consequences of his actions over the years. I hope only the best for Madeira and all the island’s residents.

  4. He should stand aside until he is cleared of any wrongdoing and if found to be involved he should be sacked. If his deputy is not involved he should assume the responsibilities of office so that the functions of government can continue.

  5. And there’s lies the rub, so his position gives him immunity and is it not also his position that has afforded him the money and financial opportunities that alleged corruption and misappropriation of funds creates ? This is bizarre to say the least.

  6. The big (?) advantages of autonomous Madeira…… great !.May corruption grow , may the Island grow, may the President ( and friends…) bank-account grow! . Not the population.
    It is all over disgusting.

  9. It never ceases to amaze me how much we humans have this encoded tendency to become judgemental and jump into conclusions especially when it comes to high ranking politicians. If he, Albuquerque, or any of his cronies are found guilty, they should all be placed behind bars.
    In the meantime let’s not lose sight of the contribution they all made to the accelerated development of that beautiful island. The net effect that effort led to an incredible improvement in tax base and living standards across the region clearly visible wherever you go. I just hope and pray that Cristiano has kept his nose clean amid all this!

      We do this, because we learned one life long, that this is the case very often. And because they are often able to lift the neck out of the sling. One german example, that became popular in the world: Our famous Scholz, who just is not able to remember many things out of the history with Warburg bank.

      I am not judging if the late development is good or not, but only because many others participate in a good way, a crime does not become legal.
