Pedro Calado turns to a lawyer in Lisbon

Paulo Cunha e Sá will be the lawyer who will accompany the mayor of Funchal when he appears this afternoon before a judge at the Central Criminal Instruction Court, in Lisbon. He will be heard in the first judicial interrogation to learn about the coercive measures within the scope of the mega operation carried out by the Central Department of Investigation and Criminal Action that led to his constitution as a defendant.

In addition to the mayor, construction businessmen Custódio Correia and Avelino Farinha were also accused, and later the president of the Regional Government, Miguel Albuquerque.

( Incase you don’t know, Avelino Farinha owns the Savoy in Madeira and also the construction company AFA, Custódio Correia, owning the company Socicorreia, both controlling all the cement on the island.)

Pedro Calado was the only one who was notified in Madeira, having been detained and awaiting transfer to Lisbon since yesterday in section K of the Funchal Prison. Pedro Calado should travel to the capital at around 1 pm.

Custódio Correia must be represented by a lawyer from Porto who usually accompanies him. The owner of Socicorreia will have been notified in this northern city. As for Avelino Farinha, owner of AFA, who with Custódio has the company Varino, he will have been notified in Lisbon.
