Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa today addressed the political upheaval in Madeira.
He alluded that at this point the responsibility lies with the representative of the Republic, Ireneu Barreto and only then will he make a decision on the course to be adopted.
“I only have to think about one thing: when I have the power to dissolve, whether I understand that it should be dissolved or not. But I can only make a decision on that when I have the power”, he stressed.
In fact, he guarantees that he will not take a position on the matter at this stage. “I’m only going to ponder what I call the atomic bomb for a while and on the other hand, the representative of the Republic is still listening to the parties in Madeira. Therefore, I think it is common sense for us to wait for him to hear what he has to hear and for me to think what I have to think. Then it will be seen exactly what solution I will have to take.
