“Refreshed and full of energy”, Madeiran businessman Avelino Farinha answered all the questions asked this Saturday during the first judicial interrogation.
Upon leaving the Central Criminal Investigation Court, the lawyer for one of the three defendants detained as part of the alleged corruption case in Madeira pointed out that “evidence against it, all things considered, is little or nothing”.
Avelino Farinha continues to be heard on Monday
Judicial interrogation did not end today, as the defense lawyer expected
According to Raul Soares da Veiga, the investigation phase, which will continue on Monday, is going “well”. “Everything in great detail to clarify everything.”
Regarding the crimes for which the Madeiran businessman is indicted, the representative assures that “no” public tender from the Regional Government of Madeira was tailored to the AFA group and that Avelino Farinha “did not have” privileged information from Pedro Calado.
Now, it remains to wait for the interrogation to continue, the promotion by the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the defense’s argument and the criminal investigation judge’s decision on coercive measures. Soares da Veiga states that he will do everything he can to ensure that this is not a measure restricting freedom: “I think this will be the good decision, I hope and hope that the Public Prosecutor’s Office sees that this is a good decision and that this is the promotion and I hope above all, let this be the judge’s decision.”
