IPMA reinforces the possibility of snowfall in Madeira

Take note that if snow does fall the roads in these areas will be closed.

The most recent IPMA forecast for the weather for tomorrow points to the possibility of snowfall in the highest points of the island of Madeira, a rare possibility this winter, but possible with the approach of a polar front.

Rain and showers from Thursday morning onwards, more frequent on the northern slopes and in the highlands of the
island of Madeira, with “the possibility of snowfall in the highest points of the island of Madeira”, says the Instituto Português do Mar e da Atmosfera in the last report updated at 6:45 am this Wednesday.

In addition to the wind that could blow strong in the highlands, with gusts of up to 80 km/h until the end of the afternoon, the IPMA also predicts the worsening of the sea state, with an orange warning for sea agitation that could bring waves of up to 4-5 meters.
