Madeira flight diverts from Lisbon to Faro and Easyjet leaves passengers without solutions

After long hours of delay due to strong winds at the airport, passengers on the 9:15 am flight from Easyjet from Madeira to Lisbon Tuesday ended their journey at Faro airport, without any solution from the company.

After leaving Funchal at 5 pm and two attempts to land in Lisbon, also affected by adverse weather conditions, the flight ended up diverting to Faro Airport.

On land, it was already after 8 pm, passengers were informed that they would go to Lisbon by bus, with the company taking care of logistics.

Later, company employees went to inform customers, including several families with children, that, after all, people had to arrange their return to the capital, because there were no buses available. Employees handed out pamphlets explaining their rights to reimbursement for expenses inherent to this situation, but they could do nothing more. It should be noted that injured parties will have to wait a few weeks to receive compensation.

In other words, around 9 pm, several passengers found themselves faced with no solution, either an overnight stay or a flight to Lisbon.

For many, the solution was to return by taxi, with the trip to the capital costing around 400 euros, as estimated by a taxi driver.

Some passengers chose to stay in Faro to try a more economical solution today.
