Access to the top of Pico do Areeiro will be closed to rental vehicles.
Jornal Madeira reports that the Forestry Institute is already preparing an operation that consists of banning the circulation of rent-a-car cars above the large new parking lot created on site.
The objective is to put an end to tourist abuse of parking and improve traffic in the area.
Residents and taxi drivers escape the ban.
