“The chances are very small of finding them alive”, says one of the daughters of the French tourist couple

Almost two weeks after her parents left for a walk from which they never returned, in São Vicente, Pauline Pasquier confesses that the whole family is “devastated” by the disappearance of the French tourist couple.

“I feel a little helpless, a little lost. Sad also because we have to face the facts, the chances are very small of finding them alive. We are devastated,” she said in statements to BFMTV.

To the French television channel, the daughter talked about the days before the disappearance and confided that the tourists had recently become grandparents. “I called my mother to ask for advice about my newborn. She asked my husband for photos of her granddaughter every day. Those were the last contacts we had,” she said, adding that she doesn’t believe that her parents, who had been married for 35 years, disappeared voluntarily.

“They have no worries, not even financially, and they just became grandparents for the first time and they were very happy about it. They didn’t even walk on steep trails. Nothing is impossible, but it seems quite unlikely to me,” she explained.

Speaking to Le Figaro, Karine, a neighbor of the couple, who owns a bakery in Beaymont-de-Lomagne, said she was shocked and did not understand the disappearance. “It’s sad because they are adorable and they weren’t inexperienced. They had already gone hiking in the Pyrenees. They knew well the dangers of this type of activity. I don’t understand,” she said, adding that in the French town everyone is still hoping to see Véronique and Laurent again .

“Here everyone thinks about them, their loved ones, their employees. We hope to see their smiles and their joy of living again”, she highlighted.
