The Flower Float Parade will be attended by a real flood. There are thousands of Madeirans and tourists who have already positioned themselves or are looking for a place to watch the parade, which is about to start, in what is the most emblematic point of the Flower Festival.
There will be 1,800 extras, with many children involved, distributed among 14 groups that will show residents and visitors the beauty of the flowers, the creativity of the costumes “meticulously designed by local seamstresses and artists”, the choreographies and floats created for the edition of this year.
Starting from Praça da Autonomia, on Avenida do Mar e das Comunidades Madeirenses (south lane), to Rotunda Francisco Sá Carneiro and Avenida Sá Carneiro, João Egídio Rodrigues’ float will mark the start of the event, with the theme “40 years in Flower”.
This is followed by ‘Afro Princesas’, by Isabel Borges, the Associação Cultural Império da Ilha, with the theme ‘Good towel, good table’ and the Caneca Furada samba school, with ‘Le Bouquet’.
Afterwards, the ‘passerelle’ will be by ‘Lady Bird’, from Associação Animad, preceding the group Sorrisos de Fantasia, with ‘Dreams & Farytails’. The procession will continue with ‘A Gala das Flores’, by the Associação Musical, Cultural, Recreativa e Coro de Câmara de Lobos – Turma do Funil, with ‘A Flor que me Guida’, by Associação Tramas e Enredos, ‘Spring Breeze’, by FT Association – Fitness Team.
‘Madeira, where dreams flourish’, by Poeira D’Enigmas – Associação Recreativa, Cultural e Escola de Samba, will be the next theme on the route, opening up to ‘Amor em Pétalas’, by Associação Batucada da Madeira, ‘Primavera e os its aromas’, from Palco de Emoções – Associação Cultural, Recreativa, Desportiva e Escola de Samba, ‘Fuschia’, from Associação de Animação Geringonça and, finally, ‘Um Jardim de Nuvens’, from the group Nuvem D’Afetos.
These will be the characters in the flower procession who, over the course of two hours, will take the island and its flowers to the four corners of the world.
Afterwards, until 8 pm, Madeirans and tourists can visit the float exhibition, at the Cais 8 Parking Lot, “whose vehicles display a vibrant palette of happy and colorful tones, representing the ephemeral beauty of the flora, in a true tribute to the flower and nature”, as stated in the program.
