There was another incident of wild camping in Madeira today, this time involving two tourists who camped illegally on a hillside in the city of Machico.
The travelers set up two tents in a difficult-to-access area, thus ignoring procedures and regulations that prohibit camping outside designated areas. The camp was discovered by some residents of the city, who insisted on recording the event.
As DIÁRIO has already reported at other times, there is a growing number of tourists who camp without rules or supervision in the mountains of Madeira, a behavior that puts the safety of those involved at risk and can also threaten the environment.
