This is a huge Shame for those that are supposed to help and rule this island.
Man with mental disorders had his apartment seized and his dog rescued by Aid to Feed Dogs.
The Help to Feed Dogs Association released this Wednesday, July 10, “frightening images” of a case of unhealthy housing in Madeira.
The non-profit organization associated with animal rights yesterday exposed the story of a man with mental disorders who lived with his dog, Shiva, in deplorable conditions in an apartment, which ended up being foreclosed on. The animal was rescued and is now available for adoption.
The association reports that “the owner himself asked for help” to rescue Shiva, who was “completely covered in fleas, ticks and smelling very bad”.
In a post on social media, the association reports that the case of unhealthiness was reported “dozens of times” to the competent public entities, however, “absolutely nothing was ever done” to help the individual.
“He is not an alcoholic, drug addict or has any other addiction. He is just a person with a good heart but a fragile mind who needs help,” describes the association, which guarantees that the medium-sized animal has always been well treated by its owner.
Help Feed Dogs launches an appeal to the population to be attentive to others and criticizes inaction: “We live on an island where most people pretend to work and in reality no one cares about anyone and we have people with serious problems who need help and who never receive help.”
