Madeira is currently at extreme risk of exposure to ultraviolet radiation, and is the only place in the country at ‘maximum alert’ level (11+). According to the recommendations of the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA), “avoid exposure to the sun as much as possible” and “enjoy relaxing at home”.
Porto Santo presents a very high risk (10), but you should not ignore the advice of the Institute. Consider using sunglasses with UV filters, a hat, a t-shirt, an umbrella, sunscreen and avoid exposing children.
For this Saturday, the IPMA forecast points to a day with periods of partly cloudy skies, generally weak winds (less than 20 km/h) from the north and a slight drop in temperature in the highlands.
According to IPMA, the risk of fire will be moderate throughout the archipelago. The sea water temperature is expected to be around 22/23ºC.
