Two earthquakes with the same depth off Madeira

Yesterday, Wednesday, two earthquakes were recorded off the coast of Madeira.

According to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA), the first occurred at 1:07 am, in an area called Madeira Island, 16 kilometers deep and had a magnitude of 2.6 on the Richter scale.

The other earthquake had the same latitude and depth, but a magnitude of 1.7 on the Richter scale and occurred northeast of Desertas.

The Azores has shown an increase of earthquakes over the last few weeks, some being felt on the island of Terceira.
