PAN calls for “urgent” autopsy of desert lynx

The People, Animals, Nature Party (PAN) considers it “urgent” to carry out a necropsy to determine the causes of the death of the desert lynx and assign responsibility, among other procedural steps.

In a statement issued this Thursday, August 8, PAN “reiterates its commitment to a responsible stance, balancing the legal, ethical, moral and emotional aspects of this situation” and says it will request the Institute of Forests and Nature Conservation (IFCN) to immediately seize the lynx’s body for a necropsy. In addition, the party assumes that it will request access to the report and accompanying report so that all responsibilities can be duly determined.

“This situation is a sad example of how a lack of care and respect for animal rights can lead to irreparable consequences. We will continue to fight to ensure that cases like this do not happen again and to ensure that animal rights are always protected,” said Marco Gonçalves, PAN’s political commissioner.

“The system failed Bores and we must ensure that it does not fail again, both in terms of prevention and in the response to situations like this. The uncompromising defense of animal rights and well-being is and will always be our greatest cause,” concluded the regional leader of PAN, lamenting the death of the animal.
