The first stage of the 65th edition of the Rali Vinho da Madeira is taking place today, an event organised by Cube Sports da Madeira, which includes the FIA European Rally Trophy, the Portuguese and Madeiran championships of the sport and also the Peugeot Rally Cup Ibérica.
After the Super Special, which took place yesterday on a packed out Avenida do Mar, six special stages are scheduled for this Friday, with double passes through Campo de Golfe, Palheiro Ferreiro and Santana.
At the moment, Simone Campedelli is the leader of this year’s edition, after winning the first special stage of the event, held late yesterday afternoon, which was marked by the start of a fire in the Hyundai i20 Rally 2, driven by Kris Meek/Stuart Loudon, from the UK who were immediately removed from the fight for victory.
Miguel Nunes/João Paulo are currently the best Madeirans, in fourth position.
