  1. As many people as possible wearing masks in UK. If you have one wear it! To all my friends in Timeshare on the island and all the wonderful Madeiran people may God keep you all safe. ??

  2. Why are masks so expensive here? We recently paid 26€ for two paper type masks at our chemist in Ajuda.
    Itys a rip off.

    1. Two years ago we bought a whole box full for €3!! Supply and demand.

    2. It is a rip off especially is after going out and catching all the gems on it mask should be destroyed, otherwise is is a health hazard itself.

  4. Hi Maurice, The updated advise by WHO is that top scientists say they do protect you from getting the virus,

    1. Wear a mask, touch a surface then scratch your nose and, hey presto, you are infected!

      If you are infected a mask can stop you spreading the virus on your breath BUT, within a short while the material gets damp from your breath and its effectiveness is greatly reduced. The ones that are good are the proper ones that medical staff get. They fit tightly around the mouth(and are uncomfortable to wear) and are only effective for a short while.

      I’ve seen people wearing builder’s masks- absolutely useless! They are designed to stop large particles from when cutting wood, stone etc no way can they stop microscopic viruses.

      The idiot Trump suggested people wrap a scarf across their faces! Unbelievable.
