“UNPRECEDENTED” CLEANING OPERATION IN FUNCHAL INVOLVES MORE THAN 100 CMF EMPLOYEES

“We are today facing an unprecedented operation in Funchal”. That was how Miguel Silva Gouveia referred to the urban cleaning operation that was started today by the municipality in the Madeiran capital.

The operation involves more than 100 CMF employees and comprises four activities, more specifically urban cleaning, municipal inspection, environmental operations and Animal care.

The objective is, in the words of the Mayor of Funchal, to clean and inspect from one end to the other of the downtown area, performing, among others, cleaning the gutters to prepare for the rainy season.

The mayor recalled that Funchal had more than a month of festivities and this is a “first cleaning operation” with a view to preparing for the holiday season.

In this context, an inspection is being carried out to assess the possible improper occupation of the public space. Causa Animal, on the other hand, is on the ground in order to determine if the dogs that circulate in the streets of Funchal are properly vaccinated and with a chip.

Urged to comment on the criticism of the opposition, which points to dirt in Funchal, Miguel Silva Gouveia was perentory. “Those who have dirty eyes always see a lot of dirt,” he countered, referring to the “cleanliness” that won prizes for the Municipality.
