Regional Government will ban consumption of drinks standing in bars to avoid crowds

The president of the Regional Government, Miguel Albuquerque, confirmed that, tomorrow, the Government Council will deliberate in order to prohibit the consumption of drinks standing in bars, in order to avoid crowds of people and situations that favor the spread of the Covid pandemic. “Everything will be seated and we will reinforce the inspection, even to help the owners of the establishments, who are often not to blame” for non-compliance with the agglomerations of people, said the government official, on the sidelines of the ceremony to hand over eleven vehicles to the Forest Guard, which took place this afternoon, at the headquarters of the Civil Protection, in Cancela.

“We are not going to restrict anyone nor are we going to restrict economic activity, but we are going to make it very transparent in what conditions people will be able to stay in the bars drinking,” said the President of the Government at the same occasion. Albuquerque said that the Region is doing “work to contain the pandemic” and that it will “continue to demand great effort and great help from all citizens and health authorities, especially in the next two weeks”. “In the next two weekends, it is necessary to be very careful in the concentration of people, especially in some bar establishments”, he added

As for schools, Albuquerque revealed that establishments up to the 2nd cycle, professional and special education, will remain open, since the number of contagions in these schools “is residual”, since it is in the order of 3.5 percent of the amount of people who study and work at these institutions.
