34 firefighters and nine vehicles are battling the flames in Machico.
Due to adverse weather conditions, fire fighting means are experiencing difficulties in extinguishing the flames that spread to the south of Machico, especially in the parish of Água de Pena. The smoke and fire is visible from Madeira International Airport.
