A great turnout for the first dive of the year in Ponta Gorda, with me personally donating 125.00 euros, to add to the already over 1000 euros raised.
Around 500 people participated today, at the Ponta Gorda Bathing Complex, in Funchal, in the ‘Mergulho do Ano Novo 2022’.
Organized by Frente MarFunchal, this year’s edition is dedicated to supporting the Acreditar association. Entry to the event, which takes place on this first day of the year between 10 am and 1 pm, costs 2 euros. The entire amount collected will be given to the aforementioned association that supports children with cancer and their families.
In compliance with the instructions of the health authorities, entry into the bathing complex, in addition to 2 euros, was made upon presentation of a negative antigen test for covid-19 and a vaccination certificate.
The doors opened at 10 am, with the year’s diving taking place at midday – sea water temperature is around 20 ºC – one hour before the complex closes on this New Year’s holiday.
