Madeira will have a Great Route, a pedestrian route with 93 kms that will require you to stay overnight. The start will be in Porto Moniz and the end in Machico. The idea is to take advantage of some of the existing routes, as well as the houses that are currently available, explains the president of the Institute of Forests and Nature Conservation, Manuel Filipe.
The works to be carried out will be the connection between the various walkways and include railings, steps and walkways, with a total cost of more than 400 thousand euros.
Currently, Madeira has only those considered to be small routes – routes with less than 30 km and which do not require an overnight stay.
Next summer Madeira should already have a Great Route in terms of walking routes.
