Route description:

“The walk begins in the parish of Jardim da Serra, in Boca dosdados, at just over 1000 meters of altitude.

On clear days we can enjoy the landscape and orography. In the background, Curral das Freiras, with the houses climbing the mountain, in the middle of the mountain stands out the viewpoint and the Estalagem da Eira do Serrado. At the summit, some of the peaks that make up the central mountain range are visible, with emphasis on Pico Cedro and Pico Grande, on opposite sides. The trail between Boca dos Estados Unidos and Lombo Chão takes place via Vereda da Boca dosdados, on the west bank of the Ribeira dos Socorris watershed.

Near Lombo Chão there are chestnut orchards that invite you to take a break and in the autumn months it is normal to find chestnuts on the ground. From Sítio do Lombo Chão and the center of the village of Curral das Freiras, the route alternates between the road and the existing pedestrian paths, used by residents and farmers. The route ends, on the path next to the Church of Curral das Freiras.”
