10 flights canceled in Madeira due to depression Irene

Depression Irene continues to affect Madeira International Airport.

Since yesterday, between arrivals and departures, a total of 10 flights have been cancelled.

Most of these air connections, affected by the Irene depression, originated or went to Lisbon, leaving thousands of passengers on the ground.

The constraints began yesterday, at the end of the day, with the strong wind causing three cancellations.

The night brought strong winds rain and thunder storms, and this morning many trees are down, and this will continue with the saturated ground.

The rain and strong wind that were felt this evening in Madeira caused trees and branches to fall.

In Santa Cruz, next to the roundabout, branches fell and the strong wind shook the tents that were set up for the Santo Amaro Festival, however, without causing damage, but leaving the Sapadores Firefighters on alert.

In Santana, the Volunteer Firefighters went to Lombo de Cima, where a large tree fell, which ended up blocking the road. There was a vehicle and two members of that corporation at the scene.

In Funchal, the Madeiran Volunteer Firefighters were called to Monte a moment ago, with a suspected tree falling.

At Cristo Rei this morning, it’s impossible to open the coffee area only the bar area is open.
