Pedro Calado, Avelino Farinha and Custódio Correia now know whether or not they will be in preventive detention as requested by the Public Ministry.
This Wednesday, February 14th, the coercive measures applied to Pedro Calado, Avelino Farinha and Custódio Correia should be known, within the scope of the mega judicial process in which they are involved, due to suspicions of corruption in some public works contracts in Madeira .
The defendants have been detained for 22 days and, after the first interrogation was initially postponed several times, this procedure was completed last week, followed by the Public Prosecutor’s Office, which requested preventive detention (more serious measure) to the three defendants, and the defense’s allegations.
Only today, at 3 pm , criminal investigation judge Jorge Bernardes de Melo should reveal the coercive measures applied. The Public Prosecutor’s Office requested the application of the most serious measure, namely preventive detention. Since prison guards are on strike, the transport of detainees could be restricted, delaying the steps, as has already been pointed out by some people linked to the union structures involved.
