Supermarket will undergo extensive refurbishment and will reopen on March 12th.
The Pingo Doce supermarket, located in the Anadia shopping center, in downtown Funchal, one of the busiest in Madeira and the country, will close to the public from next Sunday 18th February to undergo renovation works.
The space will close from next Sunday, February 18th, at 9pm, so that it can undergo renovation works that include the replacement of equipment and infrastructure. The work takes place over 22 days. The reopening is scheduled for March 12th, at 9 am.
Information for customers is public and appears on posters posted at the entrance to the commercial space. The store guarantees that “it will look like new: we are making your Pingo Doce even better”.
Previously, the area reserved for restaurants and ‘take away’ was closed to the public and is currently undergoing renovation, and it is not certain that that space will reopen for this purpose.
The Anadia store is one of the units of the Jerónimo Martins Group supermarket chain that sees the most traffic in Madeira and the country. During the period in which it is closed for works, Pingo Doce advises customers to make their purchases in the Anadia stores, or nearest group: in the Plaza Madeira shopping center, in Fórum Madeira and in Cancela.
This is the second fundamental remodeling that has been implemented by the Pingo Doce supermarket. The last one happened after the flood on February 20, 2020, which hit the entire commercial and residential area in downtown Funchal and left the store practically submerged.
