SANAS warns tourists who put their lives in danger (with video)

On another day of coastal patrolling by teams from SANAS Madeira, particularly active in terms of maritime unrest, rescue operators were able, more than just capturing images as shown in the video, to “avoid greater harm”, as revealed by the Association of Help at Sea.

They emphasize that the issuance of warnings of “maritime unrest” is something that they follow “with serious concern”. “And given the high number of victims who, like this couple, put capturing an image ahead of their own lives, it was decided to start a ‘new mission’ in order to try to reduce the number of occurrences”, they add.

The solution found by SANAS was greater vigilance. “We put on the road a team of operators who, on days of greatest maritime agitation, visit the most critical places and where victims were recorded last year”, says Ângelo Abreu, the Operational Commander of SANAS Madeira, who emphasizes that “the intervention has been based in prevention, information and education, making it possible to avoid some situations that could easily have escalated into real incidents”.
