PSP Commissioner João Góis told journalists that the search for the whereabouts of a missing couple in São Vicente will continue for a few more days.
That could be two or three days, or until some traces of the man or woman, both of French nationality, are found.
The PSP officer also highlighted that sea searches are suspended, with authorities now concentrated on the slopes of Fajã da Areia.
The searches on land are being carried out by a team specialized in mountain rescue and assistance, with the support of the PSP and the GNR, in an operation that has the support of drones from the Madeira Operational Command.
João Góis said that at a criminal level the investigation is under the jurisdiction of the Judiciary Police, which has already collected statements from the couple’s daughter.
Meanwhile, the PSP operations command asks anyone who has any information about the couple to immediately communicate with the authorities.
