The Regional Secretariats for Agriculture and Environment and Equipment and Infrastructure inform, through a statement, that following the request from the MIUT organization, they will restrict some access in the areas of Pico do Areeiro, Pico Ruivo, Poiso and Eira do Serrado, for reasons of security.
“In response to the recent request of the Clube de Montanha do Funchal, organizer of MIUT, and given that this event will have three thousand participants and that the weather conditions are expected to be unfavorable, tomorrow, Saturday, between 6 am and 6 pm”, can be read in the joint statement.
Therefore, the IFCN will restrict access to the Pico do Areeiro – Pico Ruivo Pedestrian Route. The Eira do Serrado – Pico do Areeiro Forest Road will also be restricted and can only be used by emergency and civil protection vehicles, as well as support vehicles for the MIUT race. Finally, traffic on the Regional Road between Poiso and Pico do Areeiro will also be restricted, which will be controlled by the PSP.
