The Machico Municipal Firefighters and the Rapid Intervention Medical Team (EMIR) managed to reverse the situation and saved the woman who suffered a cardiorespiratory arrest this morning while swimming at Machico beach.
The woman aged about 60 was removed from the water by a PSP agent who was patrolling in that area, and was first assisted by a nurse who was on the beach.
The woman was transported to Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital, and had vital signs when entering the emergency room.
