According to the ANA – Aeroportos de Portugal website , four flights scheduled for today at Madeira-Cristiano Ronaldo International Airport have been cancelled.
Specifically, the following arrivals are cancelled:
- easyJet flight EZY8521 from Gatwick is scheduled for 18:40
- TAP (TP 16939), coming from Lisbon, scheduled for 8:55 pm
The following departures are also cancelled:
- easyJet (EZY8522(, 7:10pm, to London (Gatwick)
- TP 16945, at 9:45 pm, to Lisbon
DIÁRIO attempted to find out the reasons for these cancellations from the two airlines, seeking to determine whether they were related to the Microsoft failure, which affected several airports worldwide
According to an official TAP source, “the flights were cancelled due to operational issues”. Without providing further details about the origin of the cancellations, the same email indicates that “the passengers will be transported on the company’s following flights”.
As of yet, easyJet had not responded to DIÁRIO’s request for information.
I believe 1 or 2 flights were also affected yesterday due to this Microsoft outage.
