Fires: Mayors ask for more resources this evening.

Fires: Mayor of Lobos asks for reinforcement of resources.

Leonel Silva appeared somewhat concerned at the beginning of this evening about the rapid spread of the flames after they reignited in Curral das Freiras and urgently requested reinforcements.

The Mayor of Câmara de Lobos believes that it is necessary to have everything prepared for how the situation evolves, stating that “common sense recommends having the appropriate means here”.

Fires: Ricardo Nascimento advocates more resources for Ribeira Brava.

Like Leonel Silva, president of the Câmara de Lobos Municipal Council, who called for more resources to combat the flames in Curral das Freiras, Ricardo Nascimento, president of the Ribeira Brava local authority, also advocates strengthening the response to the fires.

Speaking to RTP Madeira, the mayor of Ribeira Brava explained that an agricultural technician will be on the ground tomorrow to assess needs, namely annexes, haystacks, crops and burnt beehives.

According to the mayor, on Wednesday, the helicopter did not intervene due to the strong wind. It was precisely because of the wind that the fire spread to inaccessible areas.

On Saturday, the local authority felt the need for more resources. Ricardo Nascimento also stressed that “there is also a place in the municipality that burns every year and that it is a case of arson”, criticizing that “everyone talks about whether help arrived in time or not, but no one talks about who started the fire”.

Fire in Curral das Freiras is a cause for concern and local authority is asking for additional resources.

The fire, which reignited early this afternoon, in Curral das Freiras is causing concern among residents and the Câmara de Lobos local authority.

Speaking to RTP Madeira, Leonel Silva called for an increase in resources “urgently”. “Common sense recommends that we have the appropriate resources here”, reiterated the mayor, given the intensity that the fire is beginning to gain.

As the flames spread, the residents themselves, who sent JM images that caused concern, are frightened by the possibility of the fire threatening homes.
