At least three aircraft were forced to divert to Porto Santo late this afternoon
As of 9 pm this Monday, August 19, at least 13 flights (seven arrivals and six departures) had been cancelled at Madeira International Airport – Cristiano Ronaldo, according to the ANA- Aeroportos de Portugal website.
This comes after the wind, which has been felt since late Saturday afternoon in the area of Madeira International Airport – Cristiano Ronaldo, caused the cancellation of 62 flights yesterday.
A situation that is estimated to have affected more than 10 thousand passengers, whose rights, according to DECO, are not being respected.
As reported yesterday, three TAP flights (two arrivals and one departure) were already cancelled on Monday’s schedule, two of which had been cancelled in advance.
Meanwhile, as of 12:00, the following flights to Madeira have been cancelled: easyJet from Lisbon, scheduled to arrive at 12:40; TAP from Porto at 17:30; easyJet scheduled to arrive from Bordeaux at 17:45; easyJet from London (Gatwick) at 17:55 and the Ryanair flight from Porto at 19:40.
Regarding departures, in addition to TP 1696, bound for Lisbon, at 04:10 (cancelled in advance), the following flights were cancelled: the easyjet at 13:35 to Lisbon; the TAP at 18:15 to Porto; the easyJet to Bordeaux at 18:30; the TAP at 19:15 to Lisbon and the Ryanair at 20:25 to Porto.
Wind gusts exceeding 70 km/h also forced several aircraft to divert throughout today’s flight, after failing to attempt to land in Funchal, namely at Porto Santo Airport.
