Four crew members of a Spanish sailboat that caught fire about 180 kilometers northeast of Porto Santo were rescued today and taken to a hospital in Madeira, said the Navy, which coordinated the operation.
In a statement, the Navy reported that the alert was received at 4:59 am, having immediately sent the ship NRP Zaire, the helicopter EH-101 and the C-295 aircraft of the Portuguese Air Force to the scene.
