On an island where mass-produced coffee dominates almost every café, finding a truly great espresso can be a challenge. In fact, it’s often easier to track down a good poncha than a proper cup of coffee.
Madeira residents Diane Bouvet and Chris Lininger have launched Madeira Coffee Roasters: the island’s brand-new specialty coffee roastery. Located in the heart of Santa Cruz on Madeira’s southeast coast, the roastery is already producing some of the freshest and most flavorful coffee on the island.
They roast on a state-of-the-art electric machine, a sustainable innovation in the specialty coffee world.
Open six days a week, Madeira Coffee Roasters roasts small batches every Tuesday to ensure the beans are always fresh and at peak flavor. At the moment, they offer three carefully selected single-origin coffees from small farms, with something to satisfy every taste.
The branding reflects the founder’s deep love for the island, with creative names like ‘Black Sand Espresso’, ‘Poncha Recovery Coffee’, and ‘Pico to Pico Sunrise Coffee’.
Whether you’re curious about specialty coffee, craving a classic espresso or refreshing iced latte, or simply want beans for home, Diane and Chris will be there to welcome you and share their passion for coffee.
For extra convenience, you can also order beans with a delivery service, bringing freshly roasted coffee straight to your door. Just reach out on Instagram to get started.
So if you’re ready to elevate your coffee experience, head to Santa Cruz and discover Madeira Coffee Roasters – fresh, local, and roasting coffee the way it should be.
