Here is a list of updated events that the tourist board organised. Remember that all events, festivals, concerts etc are cancelled through to the end of August.

  1. Posted a link to that yesterday. Looks like they are expecting tourists to return from September. Could be a bit premature, the virus will still be highly active across Europe.

  3. People wonder how long this situation will carry on. Remember smallpox? 3 out of 10 died and survivors were scarred from the weals. Dr. Edward Jenner made discoveries in 1796 of an early form of immunisation. It wasn’t until 1967 that a global eradication programme began — 170 years later!! The final case of smallpox was cured in 1980 and the disease declared eradicated. It took THIRTEEN years to vaccinate sufficient people to eliminate the disease.

    So, how long do you think it will take to eradicate Covid-19?

    1. Maurice, yes, you with the half empty glass. If you were to see the light at the end of tunnel you would tell us to press ourselves against the walls as it would be a train coming towards us.

I don’t know, I do know medical science has made huge strides forward since Jenner in 1796, countries are working together and have pledged massive amounts of money into discovering a vaccine. All of which fills me and I hope others with optimism. So much so I have now booked for August, December and February.

  5. Do you think the flower festival will be back to the normal time next year? We were meant to fly out on Monday for this year’s festival, and don’t think we will be allowed to fly in September
