Rain and thunder in today’s forecast for Madeira

The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA) foresees for today, 5th of June, in Madeira generally cloudy skies and periods of rain or showers, increasing in intensity and frequency from the end of the morning, being sometimes strong and accompanied by a thunderstorm.

The archipelago is under orange warning between 3 pm and 9 pm this Friday, and then turns yellow until 6 am on Saturday.

The forecast also points to light to moderate wind from the south quadrant, blowing temporarily moderate to strong from the afternoon, with gusts up to 75 kilometers per hour.

In the highlands, the wind will be moderate from the South quadrant, becoming moderate to strong from the afternoon, temporarily with gusts up to 100 kilometers per hour.

Due to the strong wind, the Captaincy of the Port of Funchal left a recommendation to the owners or owners of the vessels to take the necessary precautions so that they remain in the ports of refuge.

A small drop in maximum temperature is also expected.

In Madeira, temperatures will fluctuate between 19 and 23 degrees Celsius and in Porto Santo between 18 and 23.
