WEATHER CONDITIONS WORSEN BETWEEN SATURDAY AND WEDNESDAY

The National Maritime Authority (AMN) warned yesterday of the worsening of meteorological conditions in the archipelagos of Madeira and the Azores due to sea agitation and strong wind, between Saturday and Wednesday.

In a statement, AMN said that the forecast for wind and sea conditions points to an exceptional worsening of weather conditions and maritime unrest in the Atlantic area between the Azores and Madeira, between midnight on Saturday and 12:00 Wednesday.

The sea waves will be characterized by waves that can reach eight meters and a maximum height of 15 meters, with an average period between 10 and 15 seconds and the wind may register an average intensity greater than 92 km / h and gusts greater than 160 km / h.

Due to these meteorological conditions, walks along the coast and on the beaches are not recommended, as well as the practice of recreational activities in areas exposed to the sea.

The National Maritime Authority recommends that navigators, especially the fishing and recreational boating community, find themselves at sea, so that they return to the nearest port of refuge and that they reinforce the mooring and close surveillance of moored and anchored vessels.
