University of Madeira employee tests positive for Covid-19

The University of Madeira (UMa) reported, this Tuesday, that an employee, who integrates social services, in the Canteen staff team, tested positive for covid-19.

“UMa proceeded according to its contingency plan, having contacted the UMa Coronavirus Prevention and Control Commission and the Regional Health Authority”, explains the same note.

In this situation adds UMa, “workers who have direct contacts with the infected employee were in isolation” and that space was closed for the disinfection process of the facilities.

“The Canteen facilities will be closed until the 31st of January, inclusive”, adds UMa.

For this reason, “there will be no social meal, this Wednesday, January 27th, however light meals are available at the students / staff bar. The social meal that will be produced and served at the Student Residence is an exception ”, underlines the statement.

UMa also informs that “the food service will be reestablished as of January 28 (Thursday), inclusive, with recourse to the external production of meals and their availability in other consumption points”.

The University of Madeira will continue to monitor the evolution of the situation and will follow the guidelines of the Health Authority.
