36-YEAR-OLD MAN DIES OF COVID-19 IN MADEIRA

A 36-year-old man died with covid-19 in Madeira. The information was advanced this morning by Antena 1 Madeira.

The patient was admitted to the Covid-19 Multipurpose Unit at Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça and was not an Intensive Care patient.

According to public radio, the death was not expected and occurred just before 8 pm on Thursday. However the patient did have other underlying health problems. 

This is, until now, the youngest patient ever victim of covid-19 in the Region, with 61 deaths from coronavirus in Madeira now.

  1. So sad when anyone dies unexpectedly from an illness, no matter what the illness. However, for someone so young (aged 36 years) dying ‘with covid-19’ I can only assume he had serious underlying health issues?

  2. I wonder if it was one of the newer strains that he had? I believe that in the UK that more and more people in their 30s are ending up in intensive care.

  3. Every virus death is a tragedy for the individual and their friends and family. .it came as a shock and sadnesshx to lose two friends thus. Both with health problems but they contracted the virus when in hospital. The virus spreads though mainly because too many do not follow the rules. With 110k+ deaths in England and another 800 deaths each day we have moronic ( mainly Tory) MPs wanting an early end to restrictions. Gobsmacks me !

    But good news though with vaccines now available and brilliantly managed by the NHS and volunteers ( in my experience) . Having had our first Pfizer jab two weeks ago one feels a weight lifting. Although caution and no travel for a few months yet. A small inconvenience to improve one’s chances of not getting/ transmitting this awful plague.

  4. The death toll in the U.K. is depressingly high. However, hindsight does not mean that if a different decision was taken at any point, it would have ‘definitely’ resulted in a different outcome. That hypothesis cannot be tested.
    What I will say is our supposedly ‘Mostly Moronic’ Tory MP’s ‘thankfully’ took the decision not to participate in the EU Covid equipment and vaccine procurement arrangements (much to the displeasure of the left wing media). Yes the death toll isn’t good, but this isn’t over yet, so the scores on the doors are not yet in. Let’s wait and see shall we.

  5. Except for the success of the vaccine roll out I don’t think our Government have shone when dealing with the Pandemic but then would the opposition have done ? Looking round the EU countries, most, according to statistics which are neither gathered or used in the same way, have come out sparkling. This is where politicians come in handy, you can always blame them, whatever your political leaning.
