Temporary Solution in Anjos Waterfall

Also on the front page today the Diário Notícias shows a photo of the temporary solution at the Anjos waterfall in Ponta do Sol.

The Câmara of Ponta do Sol have placed concrete protection alone the side of the road where a tourist climbed the wall and fell to his death. The wall has been in a very bad condition for years, and is now waiting for a permanent repair.

  1. And now people will climb over to sit on that new barrier to look out to sea. In a way it’s kind of made it worse.

    2. But better than nothing…it’s a situation where the Council is dammed if they do and dammed if they don’t. At the end of the day it’s the responsibility of the person to account for their actions.

  3. PdsPete….I do agree. It’s not the authorities’ fault, they’re at the mercy of risk takers. It’s such a shame that people’s lack of self preservation causes these problems. We have driven there many times over the years and there’s no way we would dream of standing on the wall or under the waterfall. I wouldn’t be surprised if they are forced to build a more permanent fence wall side in the future.

  4. Total agree the next thing the council should do is add a trampoline this way people can fall faster in the ground .

  5. The barrier should be across the road. The road is meant to be closed to traffic. Put the barrier where the waterfall lands on the road. It will soon deter the instagrammers.

  6. they will have to build a fence 3 meters high to keep this idiots away. And still they will find a way to fall down a cliff in another place.

  8. Why not make a safer feature of the waterfall and install an elevated platform / bridge around the outside of the area.
    This way tourists and motorists can bypass the dangerous bit and still achieve what they want to do.
